I just discovered a very interesting Jewish group: Wilderness Torah, " Wilderness Torah awakens and celebrates the earth based traditions of Judiasm to nourish the connections between self, community, earth and spirit."

David Lynch turns 64 today. I have long been a fan of his films. I am also very pleased that David is doing something positive to help shift the balance of our planet away from negativity, selfishness and greed to one of a spiritual consciousness by helping young people learn to meditate through his David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness - Based Education and World peace.
David's message - "In today’s world of fear and uncertainty, every child should have one class period a day to dive within himself and experience the field of silence—bliss—the enormous reservoir of energy and intelligence that is deep within all of us. This is the way to save the coming generationby helping young people learn to meditate. "
He has some heavy hitters in his line up - Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Russel Simmons who agree with David that the world would be a better meditating.

Raising a daughter who is very independent, intelligent and as you can see very beautiful was not easy task for my wife and I.
As a parent, I learned, after a time, to allow my children to grow to be who they would become, even if that journey was filled with many adventures a parent might cringe at.
We all have different learning cycles to go through. We make mistakes, learn and grow.
A parent might want to control - who would admit to that - or guide our children, based on our experience and our culture. We, of course, know what is best for them.
Our children have their own path to experience. One that is imperative to their wholeness.
Pick your battles, may they be short and end with a hug.
My daughter has grown into a loving, caring, compassionate human being and I am proud of her.

I will be doing more exploration of Rumi, his poetry and thought.
One place I am going to start is by reading "The Essential Rumi" translated by Coleman Barks.
